The Pang Soong Lodge Team Challenge.

The Pang Soong Lodge Team Challenge is a unique team building challenge that encourages teams to communicate, plan, solve problems and work together whilst completing a variety of physical and mental challenges.

Above all, it is a fun and competitive challenge!

The challenge takes place in the areas surrounding the Pang Soong Lodge, including the river, jungle, field and buildings, where 6-10 different challenges await the teams!

The goal of PSL Team Challenge is to complete all the challenges in the allotted time. It is up to the team to select the order in which they undertake the challenges.

The challenge begins:

Teams will receive a briefing as to the games rules, the process for the day, safety and the key team concepts (planning, communication, leadership, problem solving – this can be modified for each group depending on the goals of the session).

Teams begin at the Control Centre, where there are 6-10 boxes on the table, each representing a different challenge located somewhere in the area. Each challenge is worth a different number of points based on its level of difficulty and the length of time it takes to complete.

Each team must select a box. Inside, will be a riddle that the team must solve together. Upon solving the riddle, teams receive a clue to the location of the challenge they have selected. They set off the find their challenge, which could be located in the river, on the nature trail, in the forest, on the field, in the main building etc.

Upon arriving at their challenge location, teams complete the challenge and return to the Control Centre to select another box.

Teams continue this process until time expires.

Pang Soong Lodge Team Challenge (examples).

The Leaky Pipe
Teams must fill a 2.3m pipe with water to collect the ping pong ball at the bottom. The pipe, though, is full of holes. Fortunately, the pipe is located in the river so the water source is close by! Teams must collect water in a bucket and fill the pipe, blocking the holes to stop the water escaping, until the ping pong ball rises to the top.

Ravine cross
Teams must traverse a ravine 3m across, right next to a small waterfall, starting on a 1m high platform and ending on another platform. They have two 1.5m planks of wood. No team member or equipment may touch the ground and the planks of wood must also cross

The Jungle Walk and Survival Challenge.

The Challenge takes place on the Pang Soong Nature Trail.

The Pang Soong Nature Trails are the highlight of the property and the main attraction for visitors. The main trail runs through pristine jungle and around a series of 17 waterfalls of varying sizes, as it follows the stunning Mae Lai stream uphill.

The group will walk the length of the Nature Trail, approximately 1.5km. During the walk they will be asked to complete various easy challenges i.e. lining up by height, lining up by birthday etc. They will also be given information about the trail, the trees, the wildlife and other.

Once they reach the meeting point the main challenge will begin as follows:

“The group has survived a plane crash, but they know that a town is nearby (the Pang Soong Lodge) where they can be safe. Unfortunately, the Pang Soong Lodge is two days walk away, and they have one member who is injured and cannot walk.

The group will be provided with a series of instructions, which they must follow. As they complete various challenges, they will continue back down the trail, finding envelopes along the way that provide new instructions and challenges.

Tasks will include:

  • Building a stretcher for the injured team member
  • Hunting for food using a slingshot (not real wildlife)
  • Building a fire and a shelter
  • Crossing a river

The team must communicate and work together to “stay alive”.

Various surprise elements will also be added to the challenge to test the ability of the team to adapt and solve problems on the spot.
